The (Short) Week Ahead: September 8-11

Learning Objective: Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of plot and theme by crafting a narrative essay

Vocabulary Words: Plot, theme, conflict, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution

Essential Questions: 

  • Why are stories so powerful?
  • How does the major section contribute to the whole?
  • Why is it important to know and use correct grammar?
  • What makes a story good?
Monday LABOR DAY – NO SCHOOL
Tuesday
  1. MobyMax – Language (comma, subordinate clause, simple sentence, and compound sentence) (15 minutes)
  2. Write introduction of your narrative essay: Sleepy Hollow Part 2 (30 minutes)
  3. Peer review and edit the introduction 4 x 2 min. rotations (15 minutes total)
Wednesday Station Work (13 minutes each):

  1. MobyMax – Language
  2. Write the rising action of your narrative essay-Pink Paper
  3. Peer review and edit the introduction/rising action- at least 3 sets of eyes on your paper
  4. Teacher Check: Introduction check and revisions
Thursday
  1. MobyMax – Language
  2. Write the climax of your narrative essay
  3. Peer review and edit the climax
Friday
  1. Library
  2. MobyMax
  3. Finish the climax of your narrative essay
  4. Peer review the climax of your narrative essay
