Monday:

PSL: Grab the Passwords and login sheet.  Find your SRI username and password and write them on the sheet.  Do the same for MOBYMAX(10 min.)

  1. SRI-Beginning of the Year Assessment (20-40 min.)
  2. SOAR (independent free choice reading) (5-20 min.)

REMINDERS:

  1. Bring headphones to class if possible
  2. Bring your library book every day to class
  3. Turn your password sheet back in to the teacher at the end of the day

Tuesday:

PSL: Find you login sheet, get your iPad, and sign into Moby Max

  1. Mobymax language/grammar placement testing (10-40 min.)
  2. SOAR (independent free choice reading) (5-20 min.)

REMINDERS:

  1. Bring headphones to class if possible
  2. Bring your library book every day to class
  3. Bring your art supplies TOMORROW

 

Wednesday:

PSL: SOAR (independent free choice reading) (10-15 min.)

  1. Mobymax Grammar work (20 min.)
  2. Writer’s notebooks (25-30 min.)  Today we will start by decorating and organizing our notebooks.

Thursday: BRING YOUR LIBRARY BOOK!

PSL: SOAR (10 min)

  1. Library (20-40 min)
    SOAR with conferences in Library
  2. Finish Readers Workbook compilation: password sheet, journal sheet, frayer, Notice & Note bookmarks should be in the binder.
  3. If finished, look up these words: Contrast and Contradiction

Friday

PSL: SOAR (independent free choice reading) (10-15 min.)

  1. Mobymax (10 min.)
  2. Look up Contrast and Contradiction-fill in Frayer
  3. Notice and Note #1 Brief introduction discussion and Frayer Model vocabulary.(20-40 min)
  4. Read Thank You Ma’m and watch clip. Discuss Contrasts and Contradictions

Lessons: March 14th-18th

New Semester starts! Remember to keep reading at home.  We have 3 book recommendations due in the 4th quarter.  We will continue reading Parrot in the Oven and analyze with our signpost journals.  We will also be working on Acuity B examples each day to assist students with testing strategies.

Monday: Students will be able to analyze how minor characters influence the major character.

  1. PSL: Acuity B Review/Testing Strategies
  2. “The Influence on Character” Reading Strategy.  Pick a character, list their name in the middle of the page, and write down at least 4 influences around the page.
  3. Read PITO with signpost and unknown words journal and 1 on 1 conferences
  4. Discuss Signposts

Tuesday: Students will be able to draw conclusions about a character from multiple traits.

  1. PSL: Acuity B Review/Testing Strategies
  2. “Complex Characters” Reading Strategy. Pick a character, list their name in the middle of the page, and write down at least 4 traits around the page.
  3. Read PITO with signpost and unknown words journal and 1 on 1 conferences
  4. Discuss Signposts

Wednesday: Students will be able to analyze the helpful and harmful traits of a character.

  1. PSL: Acuity B Review/Testing Strategies
  2. “More Than One Side” Reading Strategy. Take the character from yesterday, make a ‘T’ chart, and list their traits as either helpful or harmful.
  3. Read PITO with signpost and unknown words journal and 1 on 1 conferences
  4. Discuss Signposts

Thursday: Student will be able to summarize what they have read by creating a quiz.

  1. PSL: Acuity B Review/Testing Strategies
  2. Create Cahoot Review quiz over PITO
  3. Read PITO with signpost and unknown words journal and 1 on 1 conferences
